Setup my book live on mac
On the left column look in the section called Shared. I have connected my MyBookLive to a power source, then pluged it into my router. Thank you for the additional description. Not sure if you netgear is tied to your airport extreme. It is still just displaying the same information. Now click on Bonjour and it will open a window on the left. There is solid green light on my MyBookLive and the light at the back is solid yellow.
What I would like to do is have my computer recognise my drive s that I may be able to put files onto it. That should get you to the user interface to make changes to the device settings. The only other information on this forum is related to Windows baced computers. MyBookLive and double click on that.
It seems you have a netgear that is tied to the internet and the airport extreme that is not tied to the internet. Without knowing how you are configured, I am not sure what else to try. I have eventually found this forum and looked at everything that people have mentioned about similar problems, but cannot apply my poor knoweledge of the internals of computers to any avail. Ok…you have an interesting network setup at home.
I have gone through everything they have sugested and come up with nothing. Your network setup seems to be more complex and I am not familiar with how it was setup. Look for the device name e. Mac sure your laptop is also connected by ethernet cable to the router as well first.
If you want to access the Public share to store your data, open Finder on the bottom dock of your Mac desktop. I think I know what may be the general issue.
Plug the ethernet cable instead into one of the ethernet ports on the back of the Airport Extreme. This will help to better troubleshoot where the problem lies. This aside I think my setup should be relativly nomal. From your initial description it sounds like you have the device connected up correctly and the green LED on the front means the unit is ready to go.
It does not recognise in the finer, or Bonjour.

I have used the software on the install CD and it cannot discover it. It will also bring you to the device interface as well. MyBookLive does not appear in the Shared section of my Finder. Now, this is would be the default if you have not changed the device name yet.

If you had someone help you setup your home network, I think they may be able to assist you further on how the MyBookLive can get setup as well. Easier way to get to it on a Mac is to open Safari. I could not find any information that was of any use to me when I had it connected via hardwire that might help me.
I have replie back to him, but have no heard anything yet. When I did have it hardwired I managed to sucessfully update my firmware to the most recient version. Cheytac01 - I have done exactly as you suggested. This is just going through the basics, but please provide info on what you would like to do first so we can narrow down instruction sets. I get my internet from a cable in the wall - this goes to my netgear and from there wirelessly to my MacBookPro.
I can only see my a USB harddrive I have connected to my AirPort Extreem I use my airport extreem to connect a printer and harddrive, but not to route my internet.
